V Festival – G4S keeps the campers happy

V Festival is one of the UK’s most popular music festivals, welcoming over 80,000 people to what is now a four day event. Held in the impressive grounds of Weston Park in Staffordshire, SJM’s V Festival, brings the population of a small town to the site for one summer weekend each year. To ensure that all attendees have a safe and enjoyable experience, extensive infrastructure is put in place by the organisers to support this temporary influx of visitors.

To support this aim, G4S provides a full crowd management service to SJM including 600 stewarding and security staff. Services provided by G4S include ticket checking, campsite patrols, safety and security stewarding, access control, campsite patrols, protection for VIP areas and backstage, dog teams and car park patrols.

Results

• Relative to some other big UK festivals, V Festival has a low crime incidence, particularly in the car parks and the organisers experience low levels of complaints from local residents.
• Ticket sales are some of the fastest selling for any UK festival and the event is so successful that further expansion options are being considered.
