G4S Care & Justice Services, part of the global security leader, G4S, has appointed David Griffiths to the new role of Director of Probation and Community Services

David joins G4S with more than 25 years’ experience within the criminal justice system and in probation services, most recently as Deputy Director (justice policy) at the Ministry of Justice.

As a probation practitioner David specialised in working with violent, sexual, and mentally disordered offenders, and was involved in some of the first group work for sexual offenders and associated multi-agency public protection panels.

For the past six years David has advised the Home Office and Ministry of Justice on probation, leading a joint Home Office/Treasury review of probation efficiency. He was also instrumental in developing policy on offender services commissioning and competition. Central to this work was the need to achieve the reform of offender services to achieve improved efficiency and better outcomes for the public.

In his new role for G4S, David will be leading on work to improve services around the rehabilitation of offenders and delivery of sentences in the community. He will focus particularly on strengthening G4S’ partnerships with voluntary and public sector organisations.

Richard Morris, Group Managing Director of G4S Care and Justice Services, said:

“We are delighted to welcome David to our team at a time when there are so many exciting opportunities for growth and development in the care and justice services arena. He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise and we’re looking forward to working with him to bring some of these opportunities to life.”

David Griffiths said:

“I am thrilled to be joining G4S; for me this is a return to frontline services and a great opportunity to be part of the team that is renowned for high quality services and value for money. My passion for better justice services - for offenders, victims, and our local communities is greater than ever, and I know that G4S is the best place for me to achieve the goals that have been my career driver for the past 25 years.”
