G4S awarded ELEXON meter installation and data collection contract

G4S Utility Services, one of the UK’s largest national providers of industry data processing and metering field services, has been awarded a contract to deliver data collection and meter installations services to ELEXON, a core provider of services to the electricity industry. The award resulted from a six way competitive tender.
The five year contract, which commences in April 2011 will include load research sample management, data collection, processing and meter installations as well as a variety of support services and will employ existing G4S Utility Services back office employees and meter engineers. The contract will enable ELEXON, who deliver balancing and settlement to the GB electricity market, to continue to accurately profile consumption patterns in the non-half hourly market which services over 28 million electricity users across the country.
