Following our strong performance during 2011, in 2012 we aspire to continuously improve our CSR performance across G4S UK & Ireland Region.

 Activity 2012 aspirations 

General business practices (Corporate strategy)

Ensure CSR strategies and programmes are introduced to all new businesses which join the region during the year

Labour practices

Increase the number of employees achieving business-related qualifications by over 5%

Ensure the rate of lost time incidents across the Region is reduced by 5%

Ensure that every Business Unit has a BS OHSAS 18001 or equivalent health & safety management system in place by the end of 2012

Each Business Unit to complete a regional diversity and inclusion assessment in 2012

Show a year on year improvement in the gender and ethnicity balance of our regional management team (employing more female cleaners for example doesn’t really address the diversity in a way that will add value to our business)

Community engagement

Improve our community investment across the region by 5%

Introduce an employee volunteering scheme into every business unit (where appropriate)

Ensure each Business Unit introduces a community engagement programme in conjunction with a customer

Environmental performance

Reduce emissions by 4.5% per £1 million turnover

Reduce our vehicle fuel consumption by 5% per £1 million turnover

Implement a robust measurement and reporting system for waste disposal across our estate

Reduce the amount of our waste sent to landfill by 5% in absolute terms

Implement a robust measurement and reporting system for water use across our estate

Supply chain management Every Business Unit to implement the regional process for reporting on the level of trading activity with SMEs, BAMEs and third sector organisations
Stakeholder engagement

Ensure each customer account team undertakes an annual customer survey and formulates a plan for action for improving customer satisfaction

Ensure that CR factors are included in each annual customer survey

Ensure all company responses to Government consultation papers are made available online
