The Commercial and Operational Managers Procuring Asylum Support Services (COMPASS) project

The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has a duty to provide support and accommodation to eligible asylum applicants in the UK who would otherwise be destitute.

The UKBA’s COMPASS (Commercial and Operational Managers Procuring Asylum Support Services) project aims to provide accommodation and associated services, and transport services to eligible asylum applicants in the UK.

G4S has been awarded the contracts for two regions in the UK, which are:

  • Midlands and the East of England
  • North East, Yorkshire and the Humber

The contracts commence in May 2012 and services will be delivered through a network of experienced strategic partners from the private, public and voluntary sectors.  In addition, Housing Assessment specialists will be used to help drive up the standard of housing provided whilst dedicated Social Cohesion experts will be employed to work with Local Authorities, migrant support groups, health and education bodies.

G4S has selected United Property Management (UPM) as its primary housing partner in England and the charity Migrant Help as its strategic partner from the voluntary sector, backed up by Refugee Councils and local voluntary and community groups.
