We are passionate about our work in the local community.
We are passionate about giving back to the local community and for the region we work in. As such, we have taken part in the following local community activities, and hope to take part in many more:
Coventry fun run
The Central Region management team decided to take part in the Coventry Fun Run ’to give back’ to the local community, but also to raise money for local charities.
We decided to support two charities; Round Table, who organised the fun run and arrange for any money raised to go to local Coventry charities, and McMillan Cancer research – in memory of an employee that passed away.
We have raised just over £1200 – a great achievement as this is the first fun run we have done as a team.
Mike Willox, Regional Director said “I’m pleased with the number of managers that took part in the fun run. Their commitment to the local community is second to none, especially as the money raised will go towards causes that will benefit local charities, and also a charity that is dear to them”.
We plan to do a series of events annually and now will look to donate to organisations that touch our staff and customers.
Ross McNeilly, Central Region West Contract Manager and Paul Wright, Area Operations Controller went to great heights – 40 metres to be exact to abseil down the law firm, Eversheds office in Birmingham. They raised a total of £200 for the World Wildlife Fund.
The suggestion came from the customer contact, Andrew Powell – to who we provide guarding and reception duties.
Not so soon after the words ‘yes we’ll do it’ came from Ross - they found themselves peering over the edge, ready to jump. Fortunately the descent was a fairly slow one and Ross said: “Although I’d abseiled before I was quite a bit younger and less aware of my mortality so there were some butterflies while I was waiting to descend!
“Once I'd started the descent however it was exhilarating, although I was happy to get my feet on the ground.”
In addition to Ross and Paul’s efforts, Mike Willox, the Regional Director donated two bottles of champagne for a raffle to boost the charity’s funds further.
Ross added: “I feel it’s important to develop the strong working partnership G4S has with its customers, which includes supporting any social or charity events.”
