Automatic number plate recognition

The ability to identify car number plates quickly and automatically offers enormous benefits to many different organisations.

G4S Technology offer reliable Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems to process images of vehicle licence plates in colour. The number plate can be read at acute angles, in any lighting condition and most importantly at high speed.

Once registered the number plate can be cross-checked against any database held within the easy to use Symmetry software. When a vehicle is matched an audible alarm sounds in seconds.

The ANPR system uses include:

• Car parks e.g. automatic fee payment by number plate for regular customers
• Police e.g. tracking vehicles used in crime, without MOTs, drivers without a licence or insurance
