Since the new court building opened in 2004 G4S FM has been providing an integrated facilities management solution. We provide both hard and soft facilities management (FM) services as an integrated package, tailored to fulfil our customer’s requirements. By understanding our customer’s needs and expectations we deliver a superior rapid response service. The Manchester Magistrates Courts facilities management team has recently received a customer satisfaction rating of 82% from our customer, HMCS.

Under a separate contract G4S is also responsible for the management and care of prisoners in the building.
The new complex houses 18 courtrooms, a coroner’s court, a secure custodial suite with 48 cells, two restaurants, a public café, training rooms, access areas and office space for 200 support staff. The building covers a total of 45,720 square metres and also has 584 square metres of retail space.
The modern courtrooms and office facilities are housed in separate buildings that provide a smart, contemporary environment. The blocks are separated by a glazed atrium which overlooks a planted subtropical garden.
The building layout allows for operational changes within the judicial system over the life of the premises.
Our team holds the British Safety Council (BSC) 5 Star Award, Sword of Honour (2008) and an International Safety Award.
In opening the courts in March 2005 Lord Woolf, The Lord Chief Justice commented:
“Probably the finest magistrates court building in the country.”
