G4S urges Retailers to Plan Ahead to Keep Olympics Tills Ringing
G4S Cash Solutions has called for retailers to plan early to keep cash flowing during the Olympic Games.
Speaking at a recent British Retail Consortium (BRC) event in London, G4S cash management expert Chris Rowe said that smaller retailers in particular will need to plan carefully to manage their cash flow if they are to take advantage of the increase in visitors expected to hit the capital next year.
In his presentation to an audience of leading UK retailers including John Lewis, B&Q and McDonald’s Restaurants, Chris emphasised the need for retailers to plan early to deal with the increase in congestion that could impact cash deliveries and collections at peak times.
He said: “The Olympic Games is a great opportunity for retailers however, the provision of cash will be crucial. With many of London’s key roads restricted due to the use by the Olympic Road Network and the wider security threats associated with major events, retailers are at risk of losing out if they do not plan ahead. G4S Cash Solutions is already working closely with customers to develop plans to ensure they are well-equipped to deal with the cash flow challenges facing them at what will be an extremely busy and potentially profitable time.”
With an estimated uplift of £750m expected over a seven week period and cash withdrawal predicted to rise by 27%, the secure transportation of cash across London will be vital.
Catherine Bowen, Crime Policy Adviser for BRC added: “It is vitally important to ensure that retailers have goods and services in store to sell to the increased numbers of visitors.”
G4S has been working in partnership with government, the police and customers to ensure that businesses are able to operate effectively during the games.
