Court services

G4S has unrivalled expertise in caring for prisoners while they are on court premises or being transported to and from courts, police stations and prisons

In 1993 we were the first private company to undertake court services which had previously been the domain of the public sector.  We run the contract for two of the four contracted areas in the North of England and East of England; the service escorts prisoners to and from courts, prisons and police custody cells.  In addition, our inter-prison transportation contract escorts prisoners between all prison establishments in England and Wales.  In total we handle over 530,000 prisoners a year.  

We also operate the court custody suites which are located in the contract areas.  

The challenging and hard work carried out by our workforce of 2000 people has resulted in our Court Services business being awarded the British Safety Council 5 star award, the British Safety Council Sword of Honour (of which 40 are issued world wide every year), Investors in People and Investors in Excellence accreditations.

Under the banner of G4S FM we also provide specialist facilities management and support services to courts.
