G4S and Interlink M74 have worked in partnership on the completion of the M74 motorway between Fullarton, Cambuslang and the M8 motorway in Glasgow south west of the Kingston Bridge. The project is the single largest road contract let in Scotland, and attracts attention both; nationally and internationally.

We were selected as a single preferred contractor for securing the site, which is located in Scotland’s largest city, after a consultation period that lasted a few weeks.

The contract entailed securing the 8km site, and in the early stages of the contract - securing a number of independent working areas. We were able to affectively secure the independent sites, as well as the main site through our: integrated solution, service implemented, quality of service and number of staff deployed for the project.

The integrated security solution comprised of people and technology:

People - security officers, some of who are mobile patrols over the length of the construction and remote sites
Technology – a CCTV system incorporating remote wireless cameras was being monitored at a central location and access control.

By choosing us as their preferred security provider, we have assisted Interlink M74 meet their security and safety obligations to staff, visitors and the local community that boarder the site.

The M74 completion project will improve the built environment. It will facilitate the regeneration of rundown areas of Scotland’s largest city and it will be instrumental in remediating a heavily polluted land corridor through Glasgow’s east end.
