Aviation security manager course - refresher
The aviation security manager refresher course is designed to provide delegates with background to, and an update of, current aviation security procedures and requirements to enable them to continue to implement the National Aviation Security Programme (NASP), consider the wider security issues, fulfil their roles as security managers, and to appreciate the roles of others.
The course is aimed at persons employed by airports, airlines and their agents, in-flight caterers and their agents who have a responsibility for establishing or influencing the way in which their company implements the requirements of the NASP, and for managing security personnel carrying out aviation security.
This is a new requirement currently being rolled out by the DfT. The table below explains how the implementation of this training will be phased.

Course content includes:
- The Current threat to aviation, including current incidents
- International and national objectives of aviation security and regulations
- Risk management and policy development, including new material issued by the DfT
- Maintaining effective security and general security awareness
- Access control – airports and aircraft
- The role of technology in aviation security
- Response to incidents
- Recognition of Firearms, Explosives and Incendiary devices (RFX), and prohibited articles
- Receiving and assessing a threat
- Cargo
- In-flight supplies
- Searching vehicles, people, baggage and items
- Searching and checking aircraft
- Achieving compliance
- Leading and motivating staff.
Assessment by: Written test and presentation
Qualification: Aviation security manager refresher certificate, accredited by the DfT
Duration: Two days
