Enhanced physical intervention - MAYBO accredited
This training module is available to those officers who may be particularly vulnerable to violent attack. This is a one/two day module, depending upon candidate numbers and level of need.
Part 1 - Disengagement which focuses on basic defensive skills, specifically:

Assault avoidance

Evading and protecting against blows

Releases from grips and grabs
-
Rescue skills for coming to the aide of another

Safer guiding skills (min 6 hours).
Part 2 - Techniques designed to provide restrictive controls, including:

Escorting
-
Holding individuals in the standing position
-
Holding individuals in the sitting position (min 6 hours).
Part 3 - Additional Holding Skills (most appropriate for NHS and similar roles):

Restrictive controls for individuals held horizontally or on the ground

Methods of restraint which prevent individuals causing harm to either themselves or the restraining officer from behaviours such as thrashing around, biting, choking, vomiting etc (6 hours).
Part 4 - Safer Handcuffing

Safe use of ‘plasticuffs’ & mechanical restraints.
Costs: Level 1 £148 per delegate £1,010 per course - up to 12 delegates
Level 2-3 £148 per delegate £830 per course - up to 12 delegates
Level 4 £148 per delegate £830 per course - up to 8 delegates
NB: The above courses can be run as a bundle, costs would be adjusted accordingly.
The BIIAB and Skills for Security Physical Intervention programme must only be delivered if delegates have successfully qualified in at least one of the following:

A Maybo, BIIAB or Skills for Security accredited certificate in conflict management;

City & Guilds 1884 Level 2 Certificate in Conflict Management; or
-
Unit 2 of the Level 2 National Certificate (SIA Licence) for one of the following:
- Door supervision
- Close protection
- Security guarding
- Vehicle immobiliser.
