First aid and Automatic External Defibrillation (AED) instructors course (five days) Add this

Enabling the successful candidate to train and assess Health and Safety Executive (HSE) approved First Aid courses and Automated External Defibrillation courses, the course covers two essential areas:

  • In-depth first aid knowledge, designed to give students the extra skills to enable them to train first aid effectively
  • Teaching and training practice.

Students complete the three-day First Aid at Work (FAW) course, as well as receiving training and advice on delivering and assessing First Aid courses.  They will be required to deliver a training session.

On successful completion students will be qualified to train and assess First Aid courses for HSE Registered companies. In addition they will be able to run courses, such as AED and Appointed Person, where HSE approval is not required.  However, it is important to understand that it is the “company” and not the “individual” that holds HSE approval.

Under current HSE guidance those training First Aid at Work must meet the following criteria as a minimum:

  • Current, in-date FAW certificate - unless a Registered General Nurse, Doctor or State Registered Paramedic
  • Training qualification and/or experience
  • Background in first aid within the workplace.
