General Security Awareness Training (GSAT) Add this

The General Security Awareness Training course is a mandatory requirement for anyone needing to be issued with a full pass permitting unescorted access to the Restricted Zone (RZ), excluding persons who are in receipt of directed training (and refresher training as required).

Course content includes:

  • The threat to aviation
  • Aims of the terrorist
  • Why civil aviation?
  • Objectives and organisations of aviation security
  • Restricted Zone (RZ) protection and access control
  • Prohibited articles
  • The trainee’s role in aviation security
  • Recognising suspicious items
  • What makes you suspicious?
  • Actions on discovering prohibited or suspicious articles.      

Assessment by: Written test

Qualification: General Security Awareness Training certificate, accredited by the DfT

Duration: Three hours
