Physical intervention
Prior to attendance candidates must have completed recognised training in conflict management.
This course is designed to teach candidates how to reduce the risk of assault by using non-physical measures that can be applied in a variety of environments to protect themselves, colleagues and customers.
Level 1: Physical intervention – disengagement techniques (one day)
- Assault avoidance
- Evading and protecting against blows
- Releases from grips and grabs
- Rescue skills for coming to the aid of another
- Safer guiding skills
- Includes assessment and certification
Additionally, where the job role may involve physically escorting or holding an individual, the following module may be required.
Level 2: Physical intervention – holding techniques (one day)
- Holding and escorting techniques
- Additional problem solving skills
- Includes assessment and certification
